Research Topic: Transnational worlds of Black publishing and print: the influence of ‘Caribbean Left’ political thought on Black print cultures in Britain, 1950-1983
My research explores the social and cultural history of Black British people from a transnational perspective. While my primary focus is Britain’s post-war migrant communities, I engage with the print cultures of colonial and ex-colonial peoples beyond the British isles, across the Atlantic, to identify sites of cultural and political exchange in decolonising and postcolonial milieus. I am interested in the growth of these diasporic networks into metropolitan communities and the varied expressions of arts, culture and political thought that accompanied these processes.
I started my DPhil at Oxford in 2022. Before this, I completed the MSt in Global and Imperial History at the University of Oxford (2022) and the BA in History at King's College London (2020).
