BA in History
The most striking thing about History at Oxford is its extraordinary range of choices. You can study options on African, Asian, American, British, European, and Global and Transnational History from the fading years of the Roman Empire to the present day. You have the opportunity to explore diverse approaches to the past, including by learning languages or by engaging with other disciplines such as art history, economics, gender or women’s studies.
BA Ancient & Modern History
The Ancient and Modern History course enables students to study 3,000 years of human history. From the Bronze Age Mediterranean and Near East to British, European and World history right up to the present day. With more than 90 options the most striking thing about this course is the extraordinary range and enormous amount of choice.
BA History and Economics
The History and Economics course combines these two fields of study to allow insights that neither subject can realise alone. The course offers considerable flexibility. It is possible to specialise primarily in either history or economics, but all students gain distinctive skills and understanding from this integrated approach.
BA History and English
This joint degree enables students to combine the study of history with that of English language and literature. The intersection between language, culture, and history is currently the focus of active debate within both the disciplines and you are encouraged throughout your course to relate literary and historical ideas in the investigation of your chosen periods, topics, or authors.
BA History and Modern Languages
History and Modern Languages brings history, literature, and language together into a single rewarding course. Students explore complementary, but intellectually distinct, approaches to understanding literary texts and their historical contexts. The degree offers enormous flexibility. Some students choose to specialise in the history, literature, and culture of a single country or century, while others use the degree to range widely across the globe and historical periods.
